State and Federal Benefits by Rating for Disabled Veterans

All applications require your benefit summary letter attached to verify your disability rating

You can obtain a benefit summary letter by:

  • Calling the Federal VA at 1-800-827-1000. When prompted state “benefit summary letter” and request the letter be faxed and/or mailed directly to you. The benefit summary letter is generated the same day you call and is usually received in the mail within 10 days.
  • Printing from the web- visit va.gov

  • Oregon Combination and Shellfish License Application for Resident Disabled Veteran Combination and Shellfish License
  • Travel Reimbursement to VA and Community Care Appointments – must submit claims within 30 days of scheduled appointments.
    • Beneficiary Travel Self Service System (BTSSS) , or
    • VA Form 10-3542 should be faxed to 503-273-5046 or mailed to P5-VTP/BT  3710 SW US Veterans Hospital Rd Portland, OR 97239.
  • Additional compensation for eligible dependents 

40%   All of the above and:

  • TriMet Disabled Citizen’s Pass (Portland Area)
  • VA Dental Coverage – through VA Dental Clinic or pre-authorized through CHOICE prior to treatment. 1-800-949-1004 ext. 55860
  • Dependents may be eligible for full tuition waiver at any Oregon public university or community college (contact the college in question and inquire as to eligibility and possible benefits)
  • Dependent Benefits (MUST be Permanent and Total)
