The Jefferson County Veterans’ Service office strives to provide courteous and confidential assistance to Jefferson County Veterans and their dependents who are applying for local, state, and federal benefits.

Veterans have earned certain benefits as a result of their military service. Survivors and dependents of Veterans may also have benefits available. However, these benefits are available only to those who apply for them.

The purpose of the Jefferson County Veterans’ Service Office is to provide free assistance to Jefferson County Veterans, their dependents, and survivors in obtaining these benefits.

We encourage all Veterans and active duty service members who are soon to be discharged to make contact with our office. Laws, disabilities, and income requirements tend to change over time.  Each case is unique; just as the experiences of each Veteran are in service, and they must be evaluated as such.

The Veterans' Service Office assists in obtaining benefits by:

  1. Advising those eligible on benefits available through local, state and federal Veterans' programs.
  2. Helping obtain supporting evidence and public records.
  3. Filing appropriate forms and providing follow-up.
  4. Assisting in filing appeals and gathering new evidence.
