Winter Operations

The Jefferson County Public Works Department often works extended hours to provide coverage on our County roads.  All available equipment and operators get deployed.  Please note that our main priority is arterial and collector roadways as shown on the snow plow route map. Our goal is to make sure our priority routes are safe and passable, followed by our secondary routes.  It may be a couple days before all roads are passable and clear.  This will depend on weather conditions. During some events, as the snow continues, this requires  continuous plowing of Jefferson County roads.  Please note that the makes it difficult to plow within subdivisions and other low volume roads.  Please be safe out there.  Avoid travel if possible and drive careful if you have no choice.
