Environmental Health Services

Jefferson County’s Environmental Health Program’s mission is to protect and promote the health of the public by providing inspection and disease prevention services in the areas of:

Food Safety

Drinking Water

Pools and Lodging

Blue Green Algae Updates

Air Quality Reports

The Environmental Health Department provides a variety of environmental and public services under federal, state, and local ordinances. We are here to improve and control the environment and its factors to protect the health and welfare of the public.

Our job entails inspections of restaurants, pool and spas, RV parks, hotels, bed and breakfasts (B&B’s), mobile food units, and temporary food booths. We also conduct surveys and monitor testing for the county’s public drilled wells to provide safe drinking water, as well as investigate food borne illnesses.
