May 21, 2024 - Primary Election Notice
Candidates may file for office from September 14, 2023 until March 12, 2024 at 5:00 pm. Candidates for the offices below may file at the County Clerk's office by filing an SEL 101 & pay a $50 filing fee or submit for SEL 101 & SEL 121 Candidate Signature Sheet (101 signatures are required).
Nonpartisan Offices:
Jefferson County Commissioner, Position #3 - 4 year term. Per ORS 249.088 This position can be elected at the Primary if a candidate receives 50%+1 votes
Jefferson County Treasurer - 4 year term will appear on the ballot provided three or more candidates file for the office.
Per ORS 249.091: If no more than two candidates file, their names will appear on the November 5th, General Election ballot.
2024 IMPORTANT DATES:
March 12th - Last Day to File For Office
April 5th - Last Day to mail Military/Overseas ballots
April 22nd - Last Day to mail Out of State ballots
April 30th - Last Day to register to vote or change party affiliation.
May 1st - First Day to mail ballots to voters
May 14th - Last Day to conduct public certification test of vote tally system.
May 16th - Last Day absentee or replacement ballots are required to be mailed to voters.
May 21st - ELECTION DAY - Clerk's office will be opened from 7am - 8pm
May 28th - Last Day to received postmarked ballots by mail.
June 5th - Information identifying voters with ballots challenged form missing or non-matching signatures are available for public inspection
June 11th - Last Day to resolve ballot challenges
June 12th - Remaining ballots from challenges will be processed at 10 am. The public is welcomed.
June 17th - First Day to begin hand count of ballots
June 17th - Last Day to prepare & deliver abstracts to appropriate elections officials
June 24th - Last day for PCP elected by reite-in to file acceptance forms. Adj. under ORS 246.021
June 25th - Precinct committeepersons take office & to declare PCP vacancy
June 28th - Last day for elections official to prepare and deliver acceptance of office form to individuals nominated or elected by write-in.
HB 3291 - Postmark Bill - Postmarks DO Count: the ballot must have a postal indicator showing that the ballot was mailed not later than Election Day and received within 7 days at the County Clerk's Office.
